Club Doncaster Foundation are inviting members of our community to join our Foundation Sleep Out fundraising event, giving participants the chance to raise money for a local cause while sleeping over night at the iconic Keepmoat Stadium.
The event will be taking place on Friday 3rd December and the money raised at the event will go directly towards delivering our services to combat social isolation across Doncaster.
Michelle Osborne, Club Doncaster Foundation Partnership and Fundraising Manager, commented: “I am delighted to bring the first charity event of 2021. Social isolation is a large problem only made worse during the pandemic. Everyone should have somewhere they can go and our provision ensures that can happen.”
One of the ways the Foundation supports members of the community to feel connected is through our Walk & Talk group sessions which happen weekly from the stadium. Participants can meet outside the stadium and are taken on a led walk around the lakeside, while also offering the opportunity to have a chat with everyone in attendance.
Derek Dodsworth, Walk and talk group member, commented "The group gives me purpose and a challenge I've needed at a time when I'm struggling the most. The exercise, fresh air and a good old chat with similar people gives me great vibes and lets me feel positive for the week ahead. It's been my saviour, it's fantastic!'
Roger Lee, Walk and Talk group member talked about his experience of attending and commenting "Since losing my wife, life has become very difficult and I struggle to motivate myself to do anything. This has provided me with the opportunity to socialise, keep active and it gives me something to focus and plan for. I'm really enjoying it."
