A number of special guests from across Club Doncaster surprised groups of local children as they each hosted an 'importance of reading workshop' last week.
The importance of reading workshops, held each day during the build-up to world book day, each had their own guest speakers that included; Andy Butler, Ben Howe, Charlotte Dinsdale, Kelly Jackson-Powell and Josh Gelder.
Each guest speaker explained why reading is important in their job, and even read an extract of their favourite childhood book.
One parent said: “Thank you to Club Doncaster Foundation for organising the reading workshop, Freddie has loved them and it’s been great for him to hear his idols read books he hasn’t heard of, and listen to how important reading is throughout life.
“He’s always loved reading but it’s good for him to hear people from the sporting world talk about it.
“He said to me after, ‘Mummy, I can’t stop grinning.”
World Book Day is an event held annually in the United Kingdom and Ireland on the first Thursday in March.
