Live Workout sessions boost physical and mental fitness for Sports College students and staff during lockdown

16 June 2020

Students and staff at Club Doncaster Sports college have benefited from live workout sessions run by sports lecturer and taekwondo athlete Craig Collins.

The hour-long sessions help give students a ‘social point’ where they are able to talk to their peers in a relaxed environment, while simultaneously boosting their fitness levels.

Craig said: “It has been great getting all of the staff members and students involved with the 60-minute fitness sessions during lockdown.

“It’s vital that we continue to engage with physical activity, which has helped us all to keep both mentally and physically strong through these challenging times."

A total of six hour-long sessions have been run by the college so far, with an average distance of 15.76km being covered by four people each session, equating to over 94km traveled and 2,100 calories burned in total.

As well as giving the students a chance to improve their physical fitness, the sessions also allow for them to catch up and chat; just one of the ways that the college are helping engage with their students during loneliness awareness week 2020.

Club Doncaster Sports College are still taking applications for 2020/21.

Their sports courses provide a direct pathway to university or a career in the sports industry.
