Job Vacancy - Youth Work and Community Sport Co-ordinator

We are seeking a confident individual with the ability to build strong positive relationships with young people in an often fast paced environment. The successful candidate will deliver and support all aspects of our youth engagement department including PE delivery, soft skills workshop delivery, mentoring and outreach sports coaching. The role will embed youth work activities and principles into programmes including but not limiting to PL Kick, PL inspires, PL Primary Stars, NCS, elevate and inclusion programmes.

This position is open to candidates with backgrounds in Youth Work, Sport, Education, Mentoring, Behaviour support and SEN delivery.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Design and deliver quality and engaging activities for young people in a variety of environments including schools and outreach.
  • Lead on primary school PE in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Mentor apprentices.
  • Provide one on one support young people with potentially challenging behaviours, acting as mentor and positive role model.
  • To be confident in delivering sessions with varied subject matters such as employability, social action, sport and other elements of youthwork.
  • To provide fully inclusive activities to all ages, abilities and to those with additional needs.
  • Plan and prepare age appropriate learning materials
  • Maintain positive working relationships with local schools, organisations and the local community.
  • Support charity wide events such as sport competitions, national campaigns and drop down days within schools.
  • Support administration duties in line with planning and delivery of youth engagement planning. Including Salesforce recording.
  • To work within the varying timeframes of the charities needs which will include frequent evenings and occasional weekends.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Maths & English GCSE or equivalent
  • Level 2 Youth Work
  • Football or sports coaching level 2 or above Multi Skills Level 2
  • Current Safeguarding certificate (or willingness to update ASAP)
  • Current First Aid certificate (or willingness to update ASAP)
  • Full UK Driving License Car owner and willingness to use own vehicle for work

Desirable

  • Level 2 Mentoring certificate or prepared to undertake this training
  • Relevant Teaching Qualification (PTTLS/CTTLS/QTS/QTLS)
  • Further sport qualifications
