Doncaster Rovers defender, Jamie Sterry has been named as the PFA Community Champion for the 2025/26 season, following his incredible work within the local community throughout the season.
As one of the ambassadors for community programmes, Sterry is always on hand to be involved in a range of activities and events that take place within Doncaster.
An influence both on and off the pitch, every season Sterry looks to get involved with projects that have always been a favourite of his throughout his career as a professional.
He once again, continued his annual Christmas campaign, raising an incredible £2,020 for a local food bank, through his own raffle, before visiting with donations of 207.9kg of food and a selection of toys to help those in need during the festive period.
Alongside his own campaign, he also joined Rovers captain, Owen Bailey, for the annual visit to the children’s ward at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and also being involved in other visits to individuals and groups throughout the season.
Sterry spoke about being recognised for the work he does within the community: “It’s an honour to have been named the PFA Community Champion for the season.
“I’ve loved being involved in player visits, getting to find out people’s stories, build relationships with the community and seeing smiles on faces, it genuinely means the world.
“You can really see the difference it makes to the local community when we visit individuals within the city.
“We want to make memories for people on the pitch, but it’s just as important making memories for those off the pitch too.”
Sterry was presented with his trophy at Doncaster Rovers final home game of the 2025/26 campaign, by the Foundation’s Youth engagement manager, Tom Butterworth, alongside the PFA’s Sam Hird and Ben Parker.
Everyone at the Foundation would like to send their congratulations to Jamie Sterry on winning the award, with a huge thankyou for the continued support on the range of projects delivered within the local community.
