Gruelling quadruple fundraiser challenge is back for 2025, on a bigger scale, as Teresa is set to raise vital funds for Club Doncaster Foundation's Fit Forces project

12 June 2025

It’s no secret that Teresa loves a gruelling quadruple challenge, all in aid of raising money for Club Doncaster Foundation’s Fit Forces project, with last year’s event raising an incredible £1837!

This year, she’s ready and raring to go once again, but on an even bigger scale!

Each weekend in July, will see Teresa take on 4 challenges over 4 weekends, pushing her limits, in the hopes of raising more money to support the project delivered by the Foundation to veterans and those in the armed forces, who regularly attend the Fit Forces weekly sessions on a Saturday morning.

Here are the challenges she’ll be taking on:

Saturday 5th July - 24 hour rowing challenge at Foundation Fitness

Saturday 12th July - Half marathon at the Eco-Power Stadium

Saturday 19th July - Monsal Trail

Saturday 26th July - Tough Mudder challenge

You can get involved with the 24 hour rowing challenge taking place at Foundation Fitness on 5th July. Teresa is inviting people to join her in completing the 24 hour challenge, which will start at 12pm on Saturday, all the way through to 12pm on the Sunday morning.

So, why’s she doing it?

All the money raised from the challenge, will help support the self-funded project, which allows veterans to access the designated health and wellbeing provision for free on a weekend.

It supports them in paying for free drinks and will also combine with other funding to ensure the continuation of offering free gym access for members of the group, which has had massive physical and mental wellbeing benefit for many members of the group since the start of the project back in June 2022.

Speaking of why she’s fundraising for the project, Teresa said: “There’s lots in Doncaster for veterans but there isn’t anything physical like this, a programme where they come together to do exercise.

“It was my son that really hit home for me about military life and how important the military community is.

“I see the value in bringing veterans together, so that they’re not isolated, they’re getting fit and healthy. When I’m talking to people that use Fit Forces and what it means to them. They speak about the lost sense of family, comradeship, the sense of pride, it’s gone, the minute they leave the Armed Forces. So when they come to this group, they know what that feels like and they can all support each other.

“It’s wonderful and it has to stay. We’ve got to look after and support this programme. These participants, they’ve looked after us, kept us safe and now it’s our turn to look after and support them.”

The challenges are going to be tough, but she’s ready and excited for the bigger challenge this year: “Last year’s quadruple challenge was a massive hit and people are still speaking about it now. Especially the rowing challenge. That’s why we’ve decided to make that specific challenge into a 24 hour rowing challenge, to include everybody and get more people involved. Last year we had the fire brigade, police and the military come along, which was fantastic and we hope that even more people will be there.

“We’re starting with a 24 hour rowing challenge, the annual half marathon, then a walk in the Peak District and rounding it off with the Tough Mudder again.

“The best thing about these challenges, it’s not just the fundraising, it’s people coming together, enjoying themselves and raising much needed funds.

“I’ve been doing a little bit of rowing in a morning, but even if I aren’t fit enough, I know I will succeed. Anyone I know, I’m asking them if they would participate or get involved in supporting the events however possible.

“The programme means so much to those who attend. I know that it’s saved lives. People talk to me about it, how it’s made such a massive difference and it’s had a significant impact on their lives, having something to look forward to.

“The main goal is to raise as much money as possible to keep this programme running for as long as we can, but it’s bringing communities together in Doncaster. I find the whole experience humbling, I’m a proud mother of everybody who steps in to contribute, but it shows that they all believe in our Armed Forces and our Veterans. The whole feeling everybody coming together is the most wonderful, precious thing and we should never take that for granted.”

Ben Howe, Health & Wellbeing Officer, has been heading up the programme for over a year and has seen first hand the impact the project has on the individuals that attend: “It’s a vital project for the attendees that turn up every Saturday morning, not only from the social aspect, but the physical and mental side too.

“It’s fantastic that as a Foundation we’re able to offer these sessions for veterans to access for free and seeing the group expand and grow to become an integral part of these individuals lives.”

Ben spoke about how Teresa’s challenge will continue to support the project going forward. “We are incredibly grateful for Teresa wanting to complete her quadruple challenge again and raise money for the project.

“Seeing the impact these sessions have on participants first hand, really makes you understand the importance of ensuring we continue to provide countless opportunities for participants who attend our provision and continue to make a positive impact on individuals lives.

“Without people like Teresa, we wouldn’t be able to deliver this work as successfully as we do.”
