Fit Rovers vets duo raise £1,573 for Club Doncaster Foundation

21 October 2022

Fit Rovers vets duo, Dave Haith and Phil Quinn, have raised £1,573 for Club Doncaster Foundation, by taking on the 3 peaks challenge earlier this year.

They took on the gruelling challenge of completing the 24 mile course and accomplished the journey in just over 13 hours.

Collectively, they raised the incredible amount for the Foundation, through sponsorship and gift aid.

Both men first met at a Doncaster Rovers game, where Phil heard from Dave about the Fit Rovers courses delivered by the Health and Wellbeing team at the Foundation, after noticing a change in Dave over a number of months.

Dave joined and completed course 8 back in 2018, with Phil completing his course in 2020. Since completing, they’re now been regulars at circuit and football sessions throughout the years.

Following joining Fit Rovers, completing the 8 week course and becoming vets, both Dave and Phil decided to take on the 3 peaks challenge together, alongside other members of Fit Rovers and staff.

As a thank-you from the Foundation, for raising the substantial amount of money, both were invited to hospitality where they got to watch a Rovers game in style with their families.

Prior to kick off, they were joined by first team player, Tommy Rowe, to present the cheque to the Foundation, as well as fundraising and events manager, Claire Banks and health and wellbeing officer, Maia Smith.

Claire Banks, Fundraising and Events Manager, said “What an amazing achievement from Phil and Dave. It just goes to show what a fantastic provision Fit Rovers is, inspiring these two wonderful men to fundraise such a fantastic amount, through completing an intense challenge.”

“Everyone at the Foundation is really impressed with the fundraising efforts of the gents. I would like to personally extend my thanks and gratitude to them.”

Phil spoke about why he got involved with Fit Rovers, and how it’s changed him, “I’ve sat next to Dave at Doncaster Rovers games for a number of years now, and over the space of a couple of years, I noticed him losing weight and becoming a lot happier and healthier in himself.”

“He told me about the Fit Rovers courses, and the benefits of it, so I decided to apply and give it a go. After being a part of Fit Rovers, I’ve now got a healthier lifestyle. I’ve become a much fitter, healthier and slimmer Phil.”

“I’ve made so many new friends, who I know will be friends forever.”
