Fit Rovers course 11 pitch side for results

18 March 2019

The participants of Fit Rovers course 11 found out their end-of-course results at the Keepmoat Stadium during the Doncaster Rovers v Barnsley FC game on Friday night.

Participants shed a total of 58kg throughout the eight-week course, which looks at improving both physical and mental wellbeing. This has now taken the total weight loss of men on Fit Rovers since 2017 to more than 105 stone.

They also lost 122cm from their combined waist circumference and drastically improved their physical activity, which saw an increase of two hours per individual doing weekly physical activity.

The participants were welcomed onto the programme by Doncaster Rovers player Matty Blair, the current Fit Rovers ambassador for 2018/19, eight weeks ago, and he continues to relish in his role with the Foundation.\

He said: “The programme keeps getting bigger and better. It is always a privilege to help  out and get to see so many people take part in such a worthwhile project.

“Fit Rovers continues to give people the chance to improve their wellbeing and fitness; I’m glad to be involved in such an amazing culture.“

Along with fantastic results, the participants from course 11 attended a combined total of 156 sessions throughout the eight weeks.

Course facilitator Nick Gillott commented: “This brought a conclusion to another successful Fit Rovers course. Course 11 made huge strides towards their start-of-course goals, losing some considerable weight along the way.

“Hopefully these guys continue their journeys within the project by transitioning over onto the Vets sessions.”

Fit Rovers is Club Doncaster Foundation’s pioneering adult fitness course based at the Keepmoat Stadium, aimed at men over the age of 30, free of charge.

Unlike big fitness/weight-loss chains that charge you for public weigh-ins and give very little guidance, information at Fit Rovers is completely confidential meaning you can keep a track of exactly how you’re doing on a one-to-one basis with the dedicated staff team.

One session a week for eight weeks is included in the course, as well as incentives such as sports wear, Doncaster Rovers player visits and money off match shirts.

For more information on how to book onto the next free Fit Rovers course, which is scheduled to run at the end of March, contact the team on 01302 764663 or alternatively at fitrovers@clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk.
