Fit Rovers has once again made huge lifestyle changes to men in Doncaster, as its fourteenth course received their end-of-course results on Thursday night.
The participants lost a total of 34.5kg during the eight weeks, adding to the grand total of men going through the course since the start of the scheme back in January 2017. This has taken the total weight loss of men on Fit Rovers since 2017 to well over 100 stone.
They also lost an incredible 77cm from their combined waist circumference and drastically improved their mental wellbeing, which saw their total general health improve by 71 per cent since week one.
This week marks the awareness of World Mental Health Day, and with a 76 per cent increase in improved mental wellbeing amongst Fit Rovers participants, the project is continuing to make positive lifestyle changes amongst men in Doncaster.
The participants were welcomed onto the programme by Doncaster Rovers winger and Fit Rovers ambassador Matty Blair, who has been heavily involved in the project all season.
Blair has continued to support the Fit Rovers participants, helping them in achieving their desired goals and targets upon joining onto the programme.
Along with fantastic results, course 14 also saw 52 per cent of people increase their self confidence. The majority of the 21 participants have expressed an interest in carrying on their fitness journeys with the vets project.
Course facilitator Nick Gillott commented: “Another successful course has come to an end, which saw 21 men set out with goals and achieve them.
“Course 14 has proved once again to be a catalyst for positive lifestyle change, all the men have come away having achieved their goals which is fantastic. This proves that Fit Rovers is more than just a weight-loss course.
“Hopefully these guys continue their journeys within the project by transitioning over onto the Vets sessions, which continues to grow.”
During the vets session, Fit Rovers were delighted to present vets member Eric Motson with his ’100 appearances’ shirt. Eric became the first person to attend 100 consecutive sessions since he completed the eight-week course, an incredible statistic as to how far Fit Rovers has come in nearly three years.
Fit Rovers is Club Doncaster Foundation’s pioneering adult fitness course based at the Keepmoat Stadium, aimed at men over the age of 30, free of charge.
Unlike big fitness/weight-loss chains that charge you for public weigh-ins and give very little guidance, information at Fit Rovers is completely confidential meaning you can keep a track of exactly how you’re doing on a one-to-one basis with the dedicated staff team.
One session a week for eight weeks is included in the course, as well as incentives such as sportswear, Doncaster Rovers player visits and money off match shirts.
