Club Doncaster Foundation partner with national charity, Shelter, for Snooze in the South event

19 March 2025

This Friday, will see people from across Doncaster and the local community, bedding down in the stands of the Eco-Power Stadium as part of the Snooze in the South event, to raise vital funds and awareness for homelessness within the city and across the nation and we are delighted to announce that we are partnering with national charity, Shelter, for the event.

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing and homelessness through their advice, support and legal services, campaigning to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to them for help. They are there to support people so no one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.

25% of all the money raised from the sleep out, will be donated back to Shelter, to help them continue their work across the country, while the rest of the money raised will help projects delivered by the Foundation, alongside homeless support delivered by People Focused Group.

Ellie Tomlin, Regional Community Fundraiser for Shelter in Yorkshire said: “We’re delighted to be working with Club Doncaster Foundation on their fantastic annual sleepout. The money raised will help us fight the housing emergency, which currently impacts 17.5 million people. We do this through providing support and advice to those facing homelessness, whilst also campaigning for change for a better future”.

Phoebe Sneddon, Fundraising & Event’s Officer, spoke of having Shelter on board: “It’s fantastic to be partnering up with Shelter for this year’s event.

“Working with an established organisation will help us to spread more awareness, not only within our local community, but nationwide too.

“We’ve already got more people signed up to take part than last year’s event and we’re just about ready to brave the cold and anything the elements may send our way.

“Every bit of support, whether great or small, will make a huge difference as we continue to support those who face these conditions every single day.”

Those taking part in the event will arrive at the stadium at 7pm on Friday, receive cardboard to sleep on and bed down for the night within the stadium bowl, until 7am the following morning, where the Rapid Relief Team will be on hand to provide a bacon sandwich and refreshments to everyone getting involved.

You can still get involved on the night, by joining us at the Eco-Power Stadium, for our sleep out! Register by clicking here.

Not able to join us on the night, you can still support us by donating here, to help us raise as much money as possible, to help support those in need.
