This Thursday, businesses from across Doncaster were invited to attend a breakfast networking event for the launch of the new Fit Rovers course, coming in 2025.
The new course, formed from initial pilot work over the last year, funded by Get Doncaster Moving, is aimed at businesses that don’t currently have a workplace health offer, or those that would like to develop their existing provision and provide mental and physical wellbeing to their workplace.
The networking event gave those in attendance, the chance to hear more about what the course entails, the benefits of the course and how businesses can implement this project into their own workplace.
Staff members delivered a festive chair based taster session to attendees, giving an insight into some of the activities that take place during the course.
Andy Martin, Fit Rovers participant and committee member, spoke about his experience of being a part of the overall project, discussing the benefits the regular sessions and courses have had on both him and his family members, who have also attended a number of the projects.
Get Doncaster Moving Strategic Lead, Andy Maddox sat down to have an informal discussion with the Foundation’s CEO, John Davis, about the partnership it has with businesses across Doncaster and how the new course will really benefit organisations and their employees to become healthier and more vibrant, through movement, physical activity and sport.
John said: “We are delighted to have been joined by so many organisations that have expressed their interest in supporting workplace health within their business and for their employees.
“We look forward to working with our local business community to develop an offer that gets more people active across Doncaster.”
Phil Winterman, who worked for B&Q before retiring recently, attended the event with a current employee. “I want to try and get them involved in something on site and something like this would be great.
“The presentation was fantastic, the interaction was great.
“I think it will really benefit those within the workplace, there’s so many people, all at different ages that are really into their fitness and health, so I feel that the site will welcome the course and there’ll be a great uptake on it too.
“It’s definitely something I can see a number of businesses taking up.”
