Summer programme 2018 departs

09 July 2018

151 young people from Doncaster embarked on a trip of a lifetime on Monday as they set off to the Lake District for the first phase of Club Doncaster Foundation’s NCS summer programme.

A total of 675 young people will be challenging themselves on the programme, all spending a week exploring the depths of the Lakes, canoeing, ghyll scrambling and zip wiring their way through the forests.

They will then return home for phase 2 and 3 of the programme, where they will be building their life skill creating social action projects to give back to the community.

NCS programme manager, Jan Budtz commented: “This is our biggest programme so far, and we have spent months planning and recruiting to make sure the summer is one to remember for these young people, so we’re so excited to see the first wave off.

“The skills they will learn on programme are something we pride ourselves on, not only do they get the chance to experience the lakes in all their glory, but the second two weeks they have the chance to live independently, boost their CV and give back to the community through social action projects.”

Club Doncaster Foundation’s NCS programme is one of the most exhilarating and rewarding experiences available to 15-17 year olds, which helps build skills for life and make a mark on their local area.

The whole programme costs just £50, which means accommodation, transport, food and activities are all included in the cost.
