The magic of the FA Cup has gripped staff and students alike at Club Doncaster Sports College, who've planned to make the trip from Doncaster Rovers' to the capital by foot as part of their ‘FA Cup Run’ challenge.
Students and staff will attempt to make the trip by running and walking the equivalent distance of 163 miles from the Keepmoat Stadium, all the way to the London Stadium, home of West Ham United, before the fourth-round tie between Rovers and West Ham on Saturday, 23 January.
Participants will be asked to submit distances that they’ve covered, whether it be from running or walking, which will then be tallied up into the Sports College grand total.
Ben Thompson, Deputy Principal at Club Doncaster Sports College, has praised the initiative during difficult times.
He said: “This is an exciting initiative which staff and students alike cannot wait to get involved in.
“As a college, we've got such a special relationship with the football club, so it seemed fitting to acknowledge the achievements of the Rovers thus far in the FA Cup by making the trip, albeit virtually; a trip that many of our students and staff would have been making on 4th Round weekend.
“We're inviting all Club Doncaster Sports College learners to get involved and bank their miles so we can reach the magnificent London Stadium before the game kicks off in just over a weeks time”.
The class 'Bubbles' working together to achieve the collective goals will be rewarded for covering long distances or completing noteworthy achievements as part of the FA Cup run.
The FA Cup RUN will commence on the 14th January, with regular updates throughout the week on the Sports College Facebook and Twitter pages.
