Run the half marathon for the Foundation

29 May 2019

The Doncaster Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday June 9 2019, so come and join in on the challenge and run for Club Doncaster Foundation.

The Half Marathon event takes a scenic route through open countryside and down wide roads, with the ending made even sweeter as you cross the finish line in style at the Keepmoat Stadium. The route is considered a ‘flat run’, so has been deemed a perfect opportunity for runners to aim for a personal best time, or for new runners to have a go at their first half-marathon.

There will be plenty of unique features along the way, including the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which is positioned near the running route, as well as the Fit Rovers takeover stalls.

As part of Club Doncaster Foundation’s link with Curly’s Athletes, the event organisers, participants in the half marathon can now run on behalf of the Foundation. The money raised will aid towards funding more community projects and injecting more sport and education in the wider Doncaster community.

Join a large community of people who support and champion the Foundation, all with the common interest in inspiring positive change in the community.

Listed below are some of the projects the Foundation run on a regular basis, so you know exactly the sort of work you will be supporting when running for the Foundation:

  • PL Primary Stars and Kicks – Premier League Primary Stars and Kicks uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills.
  • Fit Rovers, Ladies and Juniors – The health and wellbeing team have recently extended the growth of Fit Rovers, by adding both a female and children version of the award-winning project.
  • NCS and Sports College – The NCS programme and well-established Club Doncaster Sports College continue to grow, with the former looking to take more than 600 young people away during the summer as part of the National Citizen Service initiative.

With so many projects being delivered, running for the Foundation on June 9 will be much appreciated.

It could not be easier to run for the Foundation by taking part of the Doncaster Half Marathon, simply sign up to race, then get in touch with Jack Ireland, media and communications coordinator at the Foundation, on jack.ireland@clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk for the next step.
