NCS 2020 recruitment is now underway

27 November 2019

Impact Doncaster have once again started recruiting for the upcoming NCS Summer programme, with already more than 150 signs ups confirmed.

The NCS is a once-in-a-lifetime, four-week opportunity, open to all Year 11 students across the UK.

Club Doncaster Foundation’s NCS team are in the process of recruiting young people for the programme across 20 secondary schools in Doncaster, promoting the new-look NCS programme.

The programme prides itself on allowing young people to make a difference with their summer, whilst it is also a fantastic way to build skills and experiences needed to help young people stand out in job and university applications.

They take on new challenges and adventures, make new friends, learn new skills and give something back to their local community.

Along with thousands of other people their age, they’ll spend time away from home completing outdoor challenges and building their confidence. They’ll work with local businesses and charities, learn about issues impacting their community and develop their interview skills through a variety of interactive workshops.

Young people will then have the opportunity to plan and run their own community project to benefit their local area. After completing NCS, a special graduation ceremony will be held to recognise and celebrate young people’s achievements and present them with their certificate of accomplishment signed by the Prime Minister.

NCS is a steppingstone between secondary education and employment/further education – it is UCAS approved and would look great on employment and university applications. Over 98% of those who took part in the programme last year would recommend it to their friends and 92% of participants said they have developed more skills for their future.

NCS runs across a range of dates during the summer holidays and autumn half term. The programme costs £1,500 per head, but because its programme is government-backed, it only costs £50, which will cover all accommodation, transport and meals (during residential phases), activities and equipment.

Bursaries are available and support can be provided for young people with additional needs.
