Foundation launches ‘Yorkshire Cup’ Esports tournament featuring five teams from across the region

09 June 2020

Club Doncaster Foundation have launched a FIFA tournament which will see participants of the Premier League Kicks programme represent five teams from across Yorkshire in the 'Yorkshire Cup'.

Representatives from Leeds, Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield and Doncaster Rovers have been selected on the basis that they are participants of the Premier League Kicks programme, the flagship community programme which uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people.

Mark Cooper, Sport development officer at Club Doncaster Foundation, said: “This is a great opportunity to play against people from across different parts of Yorkshire and engage with kicks, even though sessions aren’t running as normal.

“We had an internal tournament for the participants of Doncaster Kicks a few weeks ago which was really well received, so getting other foundations on board makes it all the more exciting for the participants.

“We’re very much looking forward to getting the first one launched and it’s exciting to see what happens with it in the future.”

All participants will play each other once, with the top two players at the end of the league format progressing through to a final.
