Following the Covid19 guidelines to remain vigilant into the New Year, Foundation Fitness have made the conscious decision to delay its official launch, which was due to take place on 11 January on premises.
Amidst varying restrictions, Foundation Fitness’ priority has remained its users, who have praised the facility for its inclusive and community-centred ethos. Despite the cancellation of a physical launch, Foundation Fitness have confirmed the release of amended launch offers to prospective members across the Doncaster community. These offers will be released digitally through The Foundation’s social media platforms and newsletter, with #WhyFoundationFitness hoping to pull all content together for user ease and access.
The facility, which has received substantial investment from the Foundation and includes state-of-the-art equipment and workout area, provides a new level of community service for the not-for-profit charity that supports and serves the Doncaster community.
Following the successful takeover of the community gym project, The Foundation recently refurbished the gym thanks to investment from Sport England, the Key Fund, Hart Shaw, Arnold Clark and South Yorkshire Community Foundation. The refurb, which took place in August 2021, saw improvements to the changing rooms, gym floor and reception areas, along with comfortable social seating. With a small staffed team at its helm who also run other health and wellbeing activities across the organisation, and with all proceeds helping to support Foundation growth, members can feel truly part of the community and The Foundation.
John Davis, CEO commented “We have been delighted with the support we have received from a number of organisations that have helped us create a modern facility, with more space for people to feel comfortable in accessing exercise. We want to provide a warm and inclusive environment for people to exercise in and it's thanks to all of our funders that we’ve been able to do this."
Lauren Cuttell, Health & Wellbeing Officer at Foundation Fitness, commented “We want to ensure that all of our gym users feel safe whilst exercising and that we operate in the most responsible way possible in light of Covid19.”
“We envisage that providing access to Home Goals again will provide an alternative for users who may be self isolating or who prefer to remain home.”
New members can benefit from 12 months membership for the price of 10 months should they sign up this January, along with no joining fees. With the reintroduction of the Home Goals Youtube channel, members can remain within the safety of their home and still have access to physical activity.
