DONCASTER ROVERS CELEBRATES YOUNG PEOPLE'S CONTRIBUTION TO DONCASTER & SELBY AT NCS MATCHDAY

30 January 2022

On January 29, Club Doncaster celebrated the impact that young people in Doncaster and Selby have made thanks to NCS (National Citizen Service).

During the fixture against Plymouth Argyle, the positive impacts young people have made to the community were highlighted. Previous participants of NCS were invited as special guests to the game at the Eco Power Stadium and hosted activities in the family area prior to kickoff.

Each year, Club Doncaster launch the #NCSMatchday campaign to create a platform for the programme, which is delivered in partnership with the EFL Trust.
Designed for 16-17-year-olds, NCS offers an inclusive summer programme that helps young people develop the skills, experience and self-belief they need to achieve their potential - and realise their future goals. NCS aims to make a life-changing difference to young people and how they approach life after school.

From just a couple of weeks on the programme, participants mix with new people from different backgrounds, conquer big challenges, and build the confidence they need to live independently. They will even take part in a social action project and ‘do good’ in their local community. It’s the perfect stepping stone into adult life – just ask the 600,000 young people who have already experienced NCS.

The Foundation has had over 500 young people take part in NCS during 2021 alone, including Sophia, who turned her passion into social action and received a Special Recognition award for her outstanding contribution to her local area.

She commented, “I signed up to NCS mainly to build confidence, learn new skills and meet new people and throughout the programme I have definitely achieved all of the above and much more! Being able to give back to my local community was also really great. NCS is brilliant regardless of the direction you want to go in, I learnt so many skills and I will benefit from this for years to come.”

NCS has opened registration for its summer 2022 programme. To find out more and to sign up, visit wearencs.com or contact Hayley.Barclay@clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk
