Doncaster Belles players join Fit Rovers Ladies for live workout session

11 June 2020

Four Doncaster Rovers Belles players surprised some of the Fit Rovers Ladies participants this week when they joined in with a live workout session.

Sophie Scargill, Fiona Berry, Jasmine Saxton and Hannah McWilliams all got involved with the weekly Zoom HIIT workout session on Wednesday evening.

Scargill, who plays in midfield for the Belles, has praised the community feel amongst the ladies who took part during difficult circumstances.

She said: “I’ve been trying to stay active during lockdown and have really enjoyed going out running, but I find it hard to motivate myself to do home workouts that get more variety into my exercise routine; Lauren’s class on a Wednesday is the answer to that motivation!

“Her diverse and engaging workouts allow anyone to join in and really push themselves or take it at their own pace.

“The group of ladies are all so welcoming too, I’m shattered and can’t wait for next week!”

Fit Rovers Ladies is Club Doncaster Foundation’s adult fitness course based at the Keepmoat Stadium, aimed at women over the age of 23.

Lauren Cuttell, Health and well-being co-ordinator at the Foundation, said: “Having the Belles players get involved with the workout was a lot of fun and our ladies loved it.

“We’re running these remote sessions to keep people active at home and they’ve gone down really well, I’m proud of the group for continuing to take part during these difficult times.

“It reaffirms the relationship that the Belles have with Fit Rovers Ladies, and we’re hopeful that it’s something that can continue to develop.”

The Belles players deliver a football session on the 12 week course as part of the Fit Fans Project.
