Last weekend, Doncaster Rovers winger, Jon Taylor, presented the Doncaster half-marathon competition winner with a framed picture of her winning design.
Earlier this year, staff members from the Foundation were joined by representatives from both Doncaster Rovers and Doncaster Rovers Belles, in the Curly’s Athletes Doncaster Half Marathon, to raise money for the charity.
Volunteers from the Foundation Fit Rovers courses were on hand with marshalling and supporting the event.
Several schools on the marathon route, were also invited to take part in helping spur on the runners, by designing and displaying a range of posters for on the day.
Each poster was entered into a competition, giving children the chance to win a family ticket for a Doncaster Rovers home game of their choice. After deliberating, the winning entry was Mia, who created a very colour poster for the event! Well done Mia!
Mia has been part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme previously too, with Primary Stars provision being delivered within her school.
She attended the Doncaster Rovers fixture against Salford City, where she watched the match from hospitality, after being presented with the framed photo by Jon, alongside her family and Club Doncaster Foundation’s chief executive officer, John Davis.
CEO of the Foundation, John Davis said about the event: “We were delighted to be a chosen charity at this year's Doncaster Half Marathon. Along with the fantastic runners and volunteers, it was brilliant to see so many people lining the route and children getting involved in our pre-event competitions. We look forward to working with Curly’s to continue to grow the event, especially being chosen as the headline charity next year.
“All money fundraised through this event will support our social inclusion programmes that help people in need across Doncaster. We work to connect people and ensure that as many people as possible can have access to positive activities.”
