29 BIKES DONATED IN MAY

07 June 2018

At the beginning of the month, the health and wellbeing team set a challenge to the public, to try and receive a bike a day throughout the month of May to celebrate the return of the Tour de Yorkshire.

Although the donations were just short of the 31 target, the new 29 bikes will now be fixed and cleaned by Club Doncaster Foundation's mechanic team and then available to the community for free bike hire.

Health and wellbeing coordinator, Scott Copeland commented:

"I am delighted with the amount of interest and commitment the community has had through this challenge; to receive 29 bikes is incredible and has definitely increased the range of bikes available to borrow. We really did receive a range of bikes too, from children's bikes to mountain bikes, we have been really fortunate with the quality of bikes donated and that will make a huge difference to our collection when members of the public come to choose one. Anyone can borrow a bike from our bike library based here at the Keepmoat Stadium, all is required is a booking slot, proof of ID and a £10 deposit that will be returned when the bike has been used. It's a great day out and costs nothing, so I will be expecting a surge of people wanting to borrow the equipment now that summer is creeping in."
