106 participants walk to Keepmoat for Wigan clash

09 May 2018

Over 100 refugees and volunteers walked to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday to watch Doncaster Rovers in their final game of the 2017/18 campaign.

Participants from Doncaster Conversation Club and Club Doncaster Titans walked an average of 3 miles each, getting to the ground in time for kick off.

As a reward for their efforts, Club Doncaster Foundation presented them with complimentary tickets for the clash against Wigan Athletic.

Heath and wellbeing coordinator at Club Doncaster Foundation, Scott Copeland commented:

"We have tried a few of these walking groups now and we're delighted with the outcome of them.

It was fantastic to have such a big group of people promoting sustainable travel and lowering their carbon footprint by using an alternative method of transport. Walking every day can seriously reduce your risk of heart disease, so to make the exercise into something fun was a great way to spend the day.

They all seemed to enjoy the whole experience and we will definitely be coordinating similar events in the future."

Club Doncaster Titans even made their own signs especially for the walk, and proudly presented them on their final stretch around the lake.
