Fit Rovers rides take off
The Fit Rovers team at Club Doncaster Foundation have been using their Saturday mornings to provide a cycle group for participants wanting to better their health.
Making use of the range of bikes and equipment in their bike library, participants can borrow bikes free of charge and join the routes around the borough.
Despite the gloomy weather, the rides have been popular with an average of 10 riders signing up each week.
Participant, Mick Stewart said: “The rides are great fun and a good alternative to the gym because you’re working hard without realising it.
“I can’t fault my Fit Rovers experience and this is just one of the added extras to the programme, the team go above and beyond to help us reach our goals.”
Course facilitator, Scott Copeland added: “Because of the time of year, the rides have been wet and muddy but the guys have absolutely loved them and we’ve seen a great attendance rate.
“The rides last around 90 minutes and are at a gentle pace, but are a fantastic opportunity to get out, exercise and socialise. They’re predominantly aimed at participants who have completed the Fit Rovers course, but we would actively encourage anyone who feels they would benefit from the rides to get in touch or come along.”
DMBC funded, and open to anyone, the rides are delivered on a weekly basis and are a great way to build up to greater distances on the bike in a relaxed environment.
The group will be attempting 26 miles on February 24 as they cycle to the Aesseal New York Stadium ahead of the Doncaster Rovers clash with Rotherham United.
This ride is open to anyone and for more information about the event, you can contact Scott on email@example.com / 01302 764663.
