Duo of player events huge success

The Doncaster community had the unique opportunity to mingle with their Rovers heroes last week at two full squad events.

Darren Ferguson’s men gathered in the Town markets on Friday to help local tradesmen sell their produce and entertain young people with a host of activities in the courtyard.

The squad were out in full force again on Monday for an open training session at the Keepmoat Stadium. Fans took their front row seats for the masterclass before Junior Rovers pulled on their own boots to join them afterwards in a friendly game.

Club Doncaster Foundation’s Head of Community, John Davis was delighted with the turn out of both events, he said: “It’s great to be part of a club that puts fan engagement at the heart of everything we do. The events at the Town Centre and the Open Training session really highlight the culture we have as a family club and we’ll continue to support this vision.”

At both events, children could compete in challenges against the players to win a place on one of our fantastic summer camps, which are hosted here at the Keepmoat.

They could also get stuck into various activities provided by our Health and Wellbeing team such as smoothie making and static biking.

“Health and Wellbeing Officer, Nick Gillott commented: “Events like these really showcase all our hard work from across the departments, they wouldn’t be possible without all the hard work behind the scenes and our fantastic relationship with the club."

He continued: “It’s fantastic that alongside our daily sessions and activities we have the opportunity to make once in a lifetime experiences like full squad player visits."

"Darren and all the players have been brilliant with what we are trying to achieve and their constant support has helped create a real impact in the community.”
