Doncaster RLFC Junior Takeover huge success
Doncaster RLFC delivered their annual Junior Takeover Day on Sunday as the Dons shared the spoils with Barrow Raiders.
A dozen young fans and rugby league players grabbed the chance to become their hero for the day as they shadowed a variety of match day roles from first team player to programme seller.
In partnership with Club Doncaster Foundation, the Dons’ Junior Takeover Day has been hugely successful in recent years, something Doncaster Rugby League Chief Executive, Carl Hall hopes continues. He said:
“The JTO is one which I am immensely proud of as it really embraces what Club Doncaster and the Dons are all about - engaging with the community and the next generation of potential youngsters running our/their club.”
“Credit must go to all of the team who do all the hard work putting it all together, it makes a fantastic experience for the youngsters and for everyone involved.”
Club Doncaster Foundation work with all ages and abilities across the community, utilising the social reach of the professional sports clubs and community stadium to challenge lifelong habits, inspire positive change and motivate sustained participation in sport, physical activity, training and education.
Community Officer for School and Sport Development, Dean Sharp added:
“Providing opportunities to enthusiastic children is only possible with the support of a great club and the backing from RFL. The Sky Try programme funded by Sky and Rugby League allows our team to deliver high quality rugby league sessions within schools and community settings.”
“Alongside our regular activities we have the opportunity to make once in a life time experiences like this one. The impact this makes on the community is fantastic and something Club Doncaster Foundation are proud to be a part of”.
