College student returns from international duty
Club Doncaster Sports College student, Bex Rayner has just returned from international duty, a three-day training camp with England U18s.
Balancing her full time studies at the college with her ambition to become a professional footballer, the forward also plays for Super League side Doncaster Belles.
Delighted with the opportunity to impress at St. Georges Park, Bex commented:
“The pitch is like a carpet, it really is out of this world so it was a privilege to train on it with the England U18s.”
“I’m so lucky that the college are incredibly supportive; the camp was from Sunday to Tuesday so obviously I had to miss two days of college but they’re right behind me with my development.”
“I have to leave class to go to training too because we train during the day but they let me catch up, so I can balance both of them.”
The training camp is in preparation for the October Euro Qualifiers, which Bex hopes to be a part of.
“I’m hoping I get into the squad for the qualifiers, it’s just about making sure I work as hard as I can in the weeks leading up to it. My mum and dad were buzzing too, everyone’s proud and it’s a great feeling.”
College tutor, Emma Harrison commented: “Bex is really progressing in both her football and her academic work, so it’s great she can balance the two so well.
We’re proud of the call up to England whilst maintaining her standard of work in the classroom.”
